A Great and Sad Week

It's one of those weeks where we have so much good news to share, it won't all fit on this web page. But we'll share what we can and save some treats for a rainy day. This is also, however, one of those weeks when our hearts are full of sorrow. Adrianne Cobb died Saturday of gun shot wounds. The 18 year old BTW graduate was shot in the midst of her closest friends while at a party on Monroe. Adrianne was a relative of a recent JfL grad and a close friend of a current JfL student. You can read our blog entry honoring Adrianne here. We praise God during times of mourning and times of rejoicing. We pray that he'll bring more people to pour out Christ's love in this neighborhood, so that there are more chances for healing and change.

GOT JOBS? GOT COLLEGE? WE DO!

This week we found out that Jobs for Life graduates Annie Osby and Odessa Gunn both recently received their GEDs and were accepted to Southwest Tennessee Community College and Hi-Tech Instititute, respectively. They'll both be studying for their certification to become Nursing Assistants. We are proud of these women; they've accomplished a lot in a short time. We're also proud to share that a graduate from the last Jobs for Life class, Aubrey Crowder, just got himself a job at Carraba's Italian Grill in East Memphis. Having experienced Aubrey's masterful grilling skills, we know that Carraba's customers are in luck!

Both are Jobs for Life graduates and have been friends of ours for a long time. We're so proud to share that today, June 25, 2010, Ced and Tonya were married. We lift up the Harris family in prayer, asking that God will continue to bless them.

We had the blessing of getting to know Nicole (Bennetta) Dean before she started the Jobs for Life class. She's been coming to Bible Study for awhile. In this video, she talks for a few seconds about what it was like to start coming to Bible Study. We hope more folks will join her!
